For your assessment, all you need is YOU!
Please wear comfy clothing, not jeans as they can restrict your movement.
Please purchase sticky socks. I recommend Decathlon toe socks for £6.99 . These allow the intrinsic muscles of your feet to work optimally, great for your balance (not so easy to put on!!!). Also important for hygiene when using the equipment, so thanks in advance.
For studio classes, all equipment is provided, though you may want to bring a towel and a water bottle.
For mat members, we provide an equipment bag that you’ll need to collect (from the van). Please bring your own mat to class.
Yes! We believe your Pilates practice will be much richer for experiencing the assessment process at the start of your journey.
In this session, we will evaluate your movement, define your key challenges, and develop a personalised plan for you. We’ll teach you the Pilates principles and identify the most effective cues that resonate with you and your body. You’ll gain valuable insights into your movement connections, providing a solid foundation to build upon in your classes.
Done Pilates before? Use the session to break limiting movement habits and gain a deeper understanding about your practice. All clients that have done Pilates before come away learning something new and experience novel movement patterns.
Please book a chat with Rachel here, and she’ll help guide you.
Here are some shared thoughts in helping you decide….
The studio equipment uses springs and pulleys to both assist and challenge movement. This allows us to support and facilitate movement in ways we simply can’t achieve on the mat. For example, the equipment can help support your legs to reduce the load on your abdominals. On the other hand, it can also add resistance, increasing intensity and enhancing your movement experience.
Mat classes are a wallet-friendly option and an excellent way to experience Pilates. We use a wide range of small equipment to support your practice. While the studio equipment is fantastic, there’s something uniquely grounding about spending 55 minutes connecting with your body and mind on the mat, from start to finish.
Rachel believes that the combo is the superior choice. Joseph Pilates designed the equipment to help people move well both on the mat and in everyday life. After all, we don’t carry a Reformer with us all day! To improve posture and function, twice-weekly Pilates sessions that combine both methods make sense.
That’s why we encourage clients to experience both and we recommend the combo intro offer to try both!
